Three heroes of northern education
posted by : Dr Mohammed Hafiz Amadu
email: hafiz.mamadu@gmail.com
I read with admiration the tribute written on the three personalities and their various contributions towards enriching the education system in the norther region. May their souls rest in perfect peace (ameen Yaa rab).

I however want to correct a particular claim that may be misleading. This relates to the fact that my late uncle Alhaj Abdul Majeed Hussein belongs to the Gomda family. What I am going to add should not be taken as disrespect towards members of the Gomda family but to put right a misleading allegation.

I wish to state that Alhaj Abdul Majeed Hussein, who was my uncle belongs to the family of the late Imam Hussein of Yendi, whose other children were Alhaj Abudu Hussein, Alhaj Amadu Hussein, Afa Alimanche, Alhaj Abdul Wahab Hussein, Afa Hayatu Hussein, Alhaj Iddrissu Hussein and others.

I want to express how glad i am for the peace that dagbong is enjoying now. I am particularly happy for what the musicians and movie actors actresses are doing now to promote peace in dagbong. However, i am a bit worry by the way the tertiary students (especially, the university students )of dagbong goe about handling the chieftancy issue of dagbong
in the various campuses. For example, in some campuses dagombas can not organise a meeting because of the divide that exist between andanis and abudus. I am an eye witness to this unfortunate happening. I don't want to disclose the details because of security reasons. All that I want to say is that, peace in dagbong will not become a mirage if the youth in dagbong try to put aside the unpast and forge ahead with unity especially the young and vibrant tertiary students of dagbong.
PEACE WILL CERTAINLY RIGN IN DAGBONG!!!

TAMALE
Population: 2,400,000
State:
Northern Region. This region covers 31% of Ghana but is home to only 2 million people.
Universities: University of Development Studies

More information: It's now classified us metropolis and have more than 10 higher institutions one Polytechnic, four Training colleges, about six Health institutions, two Universities. due to my knowledge. All this in Tamale, I am not talking about the Region in general.

Tamale is the capital city of the Northern region of Ghana mostly inhabited by the Dagomba linguistic groups.Which are Mampurusi, Nanumba, Zabagsi, Gurusi, Frafra, Dagaati... The city is home to about 2.8 million people. It is a nodal city that serves as convergence zone as well as the commercial capital of the three northern regions.it's strategic geographical Settled.

It is one city in Ghana where one can find an architectural blend of traditional slum and modern buildings with a hospitable people with a great respect for their traditional political system. The settlers brought this political system over seven hundred years ago when they first crystallized in the mid land of the north, after they left the south saying they don't want mountains land. In Tamale, one can be treated to both local and exotic cuisines in any of its 2 or 3 star hotels like Gariba Lodge, Mariam Hotel Hamdalla hotel picorrna hotel city lodge etc. The city happens to be the cereal, Yam and Meat breadbasket of the country so these sell cheaply in the local markets.

Tamale is reputed to be one of the fastest growing cities in West Africa. Even though limited in natural resources, seasonal farming is the major occupation of the natives who receive strangers with open arms. With its mostly flat terrain, one secures a good look of the city on any three or four-storey building. In the heart of the city are the traditional palaces of the Gulkpe Naa and the Dapkema where one can catch a glimpse of pure traditional architecture. All the intra city roads in Tamale are tarred with the central dual-lane double road lit in the night.

Being close to the Sahara Desert (in comparison with other major cities in Ghana), one has the opportunity to enjoy a true tropical sunbath in Tamale. The hamattan season presents two extreme weather conditions each day. There is the extreme cold temperature of the early dawns and morning and the very warm afternoon. There is a suburb called Education Ridge in the northwestern part of the city covering an area of about 3km sq where one can find over 24 schools crammed together ranging from Kindergartens through junior secondary and senior secondary schools, teachers training colleges, a polytechnic to the Central administration of the only university in the northern part of Ghana. Tamale secondary school and Bagabaga Training colleges that have produced the current Vice president (Alhaji Aliu Mahama) and a past head of state (Dr. Hilla Limann)and most of the Norther Palimenterians, and ministers respectively are located within this area. The numerous trees especially Mahogany lining up the streets in this part of the city gives it a tropical rain forest outlook.

There are also a considerable number of international Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) like the Catholic Relief Services (CRS), CARE International, ActionAid, World Vision etc. having their offices in Tamale but mostly work in the rural areas of the north. Communication with the outside world is as good as that in Accra, the capital city of Ghana.

Deaths of US Navy Sailors Remain a Mystery
posted by : Dawuni
email:
The U.S. Embassy in Ghana opened an investigation into the deaths of two U.S. Navy sailors in Accra.

Their bodies were found in their room at the La Palm Beach Hotel in Accra on New Year's Eve, at the Tema Naval Base, about 18 miles from the capital.

There was no evidence of a robbery or of an attack on the sailors , said an official, who did not want to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

The bodies will be flown to Germany for toxicology tests, but the U.S. Navy does not suspect foul play.

The sailors were stationed aboard the amphibious USS Fort McHenry, which is on a seven-month voyage through the Gulf of Guinea aimed at training local law enforcement on maritime security.

"Three of them went out and checked in at La Palm Beach Hotel on Dec. 31 and on the next day, the third sailor found the two dead in their rooms and duly reported this to the hotel authorities," the official said.

"There's no immediate evidence" of foul play, Lt. Patrick Foughty, a spokesman for the 6th Fleet in Naples, Italy, told a newspaper.

Let us therefore seek peace together and burry our differences. No more Andani , No more Abudu, Always Dagomba. It is high time we wake up and see the outside world flying into the seventh sky by development whilst we are still strugling to appear on the earth. Lets stop using our money on gathering armnations. Lets use it on our children education. Look at the way the BIMOBAS,KONKOMBAS, GONJAS AND GURUNSI are busily educating their children today.
Let us observe well and see how many offices in Dagbon are occupied by non Dagombas and how many are for Dagombas?. we are really deeply sleeping.
Please dagbon, wake up and do well to catch them up.thank you

OH MY HEART GOES TO THE CHILDREN ON DAGBON

OH MY HEART FOR THE CHILDREN OF DAGBON Now the dead is laid to rest. Now his soul has arrived home. His head although severed but back to its original place to complete the sum of its part. Dagbon has suffered enough. The Children of Dagbon are crying for help. The Children of Dagbon are now ever than before need all the help from good loving people of this planet earth. The Children of Dagbon needs peace so that it can grow. Yaa Naa Yabubu Anadani cannot come back again! Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani is in the Hands of Almighty Creator. Let his soul rest in peace. The Children of Dagbon now have to bury the hatchet. The Chidren of Dagbon have to make peace with themselves. Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani would love that.Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani will smile at this effort. Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani would love to see the progress and achievements of Children of Dagbon. Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani would love not to see the mutilation of Children of Dagbon . Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani is forgiving. Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani wants the Children of Dagbon to turn their attention to nation building of Dagbon. How can the Children of Dagbon accomplish this feat. First Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani wants the Children of Dagbon to organise themselves into one unit, no matter how difficult it might be.The Children of Dagbon must realise that while they are murdering each other in the name of Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani, which he does not appreciate, because he loves all the Children of Dagbon.Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani does not begrudge the misguided few who did what they did to him. Therefore Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani sees what has befallen his great nation and he pleads with the Children of Dagbon to make peace so as to build a prosperous nation. The curse of Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani will be upon all of the Chidren of Dagbon if they donít pay attention to development and upliftment of the Children of Dagbon while the rest of the nation is snatching the best pie of the resources of the nation to their own region.Yaa Naa Yakubu Anadani wants to remind the Children of Dagbon that they have great ancestry emanating from the Songhai Empire of old. The Children of Dagbon must realise its greatnss. In realising this greatness, the Children of Dagbon must start nation building first by forgiving each other for the past atrocities.Without that the Children of Dagbon will never realise their greatness. Let the Children of Dagbon forgive each other. Let the Children of Dagban leave a legacy for the grand-children and the great-grand-children yet to come. This way Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani would not have died in vain. "Allah says:wamaa kaana linafsinn antamuuta illaa bi izni Allah.s3v145.- Nor can a soul die except by His Will" So the death of Yaa Naa Yakubu Anadani, happpened by Allah's Will. He, Allah also says: ďKul-lu nafsiin zaaa iqatulmautt wa inna maa tuwafaww na ujuura kum yaw maqiyaamah, faman zuh-zihaa annin-naar wa udhilal jannata faqad faaza wamal hayaata tuldunnyaaa il-laaamataa ulguruur.s3v185. Every Soul shall have a taste of death;and only on the day of Judgement shall you be paid your full recompense.Only he who is saved far from the fire and admitted to the Garden will have succeeded :For the life of this world is but goods and chattels of deception" So you see Oh! the Children of Dagbon pay heed. Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani's death is ordained. We all have a way to exit this troubled world back to our Creator. To those who committed this heinous crime their recompense is with the Creator. We shall be accountable for what ever we do today tomorrow,Inshah Allah. Let the Children of Dagbon not lose sight of nation building!! May Allah Subhaaana Wata aala forgive Ya Naa Yakubu Andani. May Allah accept him in His Bossom. Ameen.

Negotiated Settlement is the surest way to settle once and for all the age-old troubles with the Nam in Dagbon. Selfish trouble mongers should be cast into the dustbin of history by the royals and the Traditional council. Another thing, the current event is a clear manifestation of serious contradictions in the chieftancy institution.Even in the twenty-first century Dagbon Nanima have not accepted the need to be accountable to those they lead.Nanima still isolate the central gov't from their programmes(not even in the many years rule of the Lem Gomdanti). pretending to be living in their own holes where they virtually fell self conceited. these are signs that we are still not ready to get along with other serious ethnic groups like the Kambonsi. Here at Kumahi, leaders annually account stool resource to the people, leaders are visionaries and inculcate useful democratic elements into their gorvenance process. but do we see in Dagbon? Nag'chin'nanima who are supposed to galvanised the youth for the development process have ended being obstacles to the process themselves. It is only in Tamale that entertainment is not allowed at public functions like outdooring. We appear to be far away from civilisation. we only wait to be burried.
